Job summary

JLL is seeking a Critical Environments Operating Engineer to maintain data center infrastructure and ensure 100% uptime. You will operate electrical and mechanical systems, monitor performance, and respond to incidents in a fast-paced environment.

Role involves 24/7 shifts, working with UPS, generators, chillers, and fire/life safety systems to support mission-critical operations in on-site facilities in Durham/Raleigh, NC. Competitive benefits and career growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a data center or critical facility environment.
• Experience with mission-critical building systems including UPS, emergency generators, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to document activities clearly.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all critical building systems to ensure 100% uptime (fire/Life safety, HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, plumbing, controls, UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution, transformers).
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, chilled water, boilers, pumps, valves, piping, and electrical systems for optimal performance.
• Record readings, analyze operations, identify issues, and take corrective action.
• Manage work orders in CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and respond to tickets professionally.
• Learn data center infrastructure to manage incidents and events affecting critical systems.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and respond to site emergencies.
• Maintain safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials; ensure safety standards.
