Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a Traveling Data Center Field Service Engineer to support mission-critical cooling across North America. The role focuses on data center startup, commissioning, maintenance, and repair, with extensive travel to customer sites and demanding environments.

The position requires diagnosing complex HVAC and chiller systems, interfacing with building automation, and maintaining detailed service records while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC/ mechanical tech training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years field HVAC/chiller service experience.
• Experience servicing air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers; screw and centrifugal compressors.
• Familiarity with hydronic systems, cooling towers, pumps, and controls.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and troubleshoot effectively.
• EPA certification and valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for mission-critical cooling systems in data centers.
• Diagnose and repair air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers and compressor systems.
• Support field activities involving screw and centrifugal compressors.
• Respond to critical service events and customer emergencies promptly.
• Interface with building automation systems and controls platforms.
• Maintain complete service records and field reports.
