Job summary

Amazon’s Critical Infrastructure Data Centers seek a Field Engineer to provide full life-cycle support from design inception through site improvements and maintenance. You will serve as the go-to engineering resource across a large geographic area, delivering technical guidance while ensuring safety and reliability in AWS data centers.

Responsibilities include reviewing designs, performing RCAs, training field staff, and leading upgrades to increase capacity and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience with NFPA, NEC, FM Global, IFC, and IBC codes.
• Knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppression system installation, operation and design.
• Strong engineering judgment, detail-oriented and data-driven.
• Experience solving problems with engineered solutions and managing projects/consultants.
• Ability to build trust across operations, controls, construction, design, and product teams.
• Adaptability and willingness to work in the field.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the fire protection engineering expert for fire and life-safety issues.
• Develop relationships with authorities having jurisdiction to support customers and community.
• Review design and equipment submittals for new data centers.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform root-cause analyses with corrective actions.
• Provide ad-hoc training and SOP reviews to operations staff.
• Mentor customers and partner engineers in fire protection principles.
• Lead conceptual designs for data center upgrades to improve capacity and reliability.
• Coordinate with operations, design, server hardware, EH&S to ensure consistent service standards.
• Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers.
