Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a seasoned Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection for data centers and mission-critical facilities in the U.S. Places Design & Engineering group.

You will coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams, guide colleagues, and drive IFC design packages from pursuit to construction. Travel to project sites is expected, with a focus on high-availability environments and adherence to NFPA and other codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection (U.S.) required.
• Demonstrated experience designing fire protection systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards (NFPA 13, 20, 22, 24, 72, 75, 76) and IFC/IBC/FM Global guidelines.
• Experience delivering IFC design packages and coordinating with MEP systems.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills in hybrid work environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design for data center and mission-critical projects with focus on reliability and uptime.
• Develop construction-ready design packages with drawings, specs, and BIM coordination.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to integrate systems.
• Support proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and client engagement.
• Perform site assessments and fire protection studies for data centers.
