Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support our Data Center practice across multiple projects. You will lead fire protection design, code analyses, and life safety engineering for mission-critical facilities, collaborating with clients, AHJs, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field, 5+ years of experience, and knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, and FM Global data sheets. PE license or NICET is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.
• 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Experience with NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Fire Protection Engineer for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.
• Provide fire protection system design, code analysis, and life safety engineering.
• Establish project fire protection design criteria, basis of design reports, and technical standards.
• Participate in design reviews and QA/QC across multiple projects.
• Conduct code evaluations and interpretations using NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and client standards.
• Develop suppression system concepts (water-based systems, pumps, storage, pre-action, clean agent, special hazards).
• Perform hydraulic calculations for water distribution networks, pumps, tanks, and sprinklers.
• Coordinate fire protection with mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and architectural teams.
• Interface with clients, insurance, AHJs for approvals and issues.
• Support large-scale campus master planning and hyperscale data center developments.
• Assist project managers with scope, staffing, budgets, schedules, and risk management.
• Support proposal development and business development in Data Center market.
