Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support our rapidly growing Data Center practice. You will design fire protection systems, perform code analyses, and ensure life safety across mission-critical facilities.

You’ll collaborate with clients, architects, AHJs, and internal teams to meet reliability and code requirements. You will lead multidisciplinary efforts, develop design criteria, perform hydraulic calculations, and contribute to business development in the Data Center market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience
• PE license and NICET certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Fire Protection Engineer for Data Center and Mission Critical projects
• Provide fire protection system design, code analysis, and life safety engineering
• Establish project fire protection design criteria, basis of design reports, and technical standards
• Participate in design reviews and QA/QC across multiple projects
• Conduct code evaluations using NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and client standards
• Develop suppression system concepts: water-based sprinklers, pumps, storage, pre-action, clean agent, special hazards
• Perform hydraulic calculations for site water distribution and sprinkler systems
• Coordinate fire protection with MEP, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines
• Interface with clients, AHJs, and insurers to obtain approvals
• Support large-scale campus master planning and hyperscale data center developments
• Assist PMs with scope, staffing, budgets, schedules, and risk management
• Support proposals and business development in the Data Center market
• Stay updated on codes and emerging fire protection technologies
