Job summary

Meta’s Energy Team seeks a commercially-minded and technically-grounded energy professional to lead demand flexibility and grid strategy for the data center portfolio. You will own negotiations with utilities and grid operators, and ensure flexibility is embedded in energy service agreements and site designs from the outset.

The role requires deep knowledge of energy markets, regulatory processes, and cross-functional execution across policy, engineering, legal, and finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or an energy-related discipline.
• 10 years of experience in commercial energy, utility negotiations, or grid operations with exposure to demand response, flexible interconnection, or capacity market structures.
• Working knowledge of demand response programs, BYOC capacity arrangements, and flexible load tariffs across at least one major U.S. RTO or ISO market.
• Experience representing business interests to utilities, grid operators, regulatory agencies, and industry working groups.
• Experience with transmission, distribution, and utility interconnection processes and market structures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Meta’s SME on demand flexibility and flexible interconnection; drive commercial negotiations and operationalize arrangements.
• Partner with Policy team to monitor regulatory landscape related to demand flexibility.
• Manage commercial relationships with utilities, regulators, and market participants across multiple energy markets.
• Negotiate deal terms with optionality and present scenarios to extend shelf life and delivery of options.
• Deliver new commercial agreements enabling capacity and fungible options across sites.
• Collaborate with legal to refine commercial arrangements for facilities and energy services.
• Assist Site Selection to identify US locations meeting energy requirements for new data centers.
• Interface with data center staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal and finance.
• Support ongoing development and execution of Meta’s energy supply strategy for data centers.
• Stay informed of market, technical, and regulatory developments and communicate trends and risks to management.
• Lead and support energy projects as needed.
• Travel domestically (25%)
