Job summary

Meta's Energy Team is seeking a commercially-experienced and technically-grounded energy professional to lead our demand flexibility and grid strategy across our global data center portfolio.

The Energy Manager will own development and execution of Meta's demand flexibility strategy, negotiating with utilities and grid operators and embedding flexibility in energy service agreements and site designs from the outset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or an energy-related discipline.
• 10 years of experience in commercial energy, utility negotiations, or grid operations with exposure to demand response, flexible interconnection, or capacity market structures.
• Working knowledge of demand response programs, BYOC capacity arrangements, and flexible load tariffs across at least one major U.S. RTO or ISO market.
• Experience representing business interests to utilities, grid operators, regulatory agencies, and industry working groups.
• Knowledge of transmission, distribution, and utility interconnection processes and market structures.
• Experience managing cross-functional programs involving engineering, legal, policy, and commercial teams.
• Ability to communicate complex regulatory, commercial, and technical details clearly to stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%).

Responsibilities

• Serve as Meta's subject matter expert on demand flexibility and flexible interconnection across markets.
• Drive commercial negotiations with utilities and grid operators and operationalize agreed arrangements.
• Partner with Policy to monitor regulatory landscape related to demand flexibility.
• Manage commercial relationships with data centers across energy markets and regulators.
• Negotiate terms and present scenario analyses for options and capacity planning.
• Deliver new commercial agreements enabling capacity and fungible options.
• Work with legal to develop commercial arrangements for facilities.
• Assist Site Selection in identifying energy-ready locations in the U.S.
• Coordinate with data center staff, sustainability, policy, finance, and construction teams.
• Stay informed on energy market developments and convey risks and trends to management.
• Lead and support various energy projects as needed.
• Travel domestically (and ~25% internationally).
