Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical, a subsidiary of IES Holdings, seeks an on-site Electrical Superintendent to lead complex data center projects from mobilization through commissioning.

You will supervise field crews, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure adherence to drawings, specs, schedules, and safety policies. You will develop look-ahead plans, monitor progress, manage materials, and drive QA/QC activities to achieve reliable uptime.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required; technical or construction-related degree preferred.
• Valid Electrical License on Journeyman or Master level preferred.
• 8–12 years of electrical construction experience with 1–3 years in superintendent/lead supervisory role.
• Direct experience on data center or mission-critical projects strongly preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of critical power systems and redundancy (N, N+1, 2N).
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and commissioning processes.
• Ability to read/interpret complex electrical drawings, specs, and BIM docs.
• OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain.
• Proficient with Outlook, MS Office (Excel/Word).
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Pass pre-employment background and MVR checks.

Responsibilities

• Leads on-site electrical construction activities for mission-critical/data center projects from mobilization through commissioning and turnover.
• Supervises, coordinates, and directs field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to meet milestones.
• Develops and executes short-interval plans, look-ahead schedules, and manpower forecasts.
• Ensures adherence to safety policies, OSHA standards, and site safety requirements; promotes a proactive culture.
• Interprets and enforces compliance with drawings, specifications, and NEC/NFPA/local codes.
• Coordinates with project management, engineering, and other trades to resolve conflicts and maintain workflow.
• Monitors productivity, tracks progress, and implements corrective actions to meet schedule/budget.
• Leads huddles, coordination meetings, and subcontractor alignment sessions.
• Supports QA/QC processes, inspections, testing, and commissioning for system reliability.
• Identifies and mitigates risks, delays, and field issues in real time.
• Ensures proper material management, delivery, and site logistics.
• Maintains accurate field documentation (daily reports, logs, progress).
