Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical BIM Designer to support design documentation and BIM model management across disciplines. You will collaborate with the electrical design team to convert design concepts into constructible, clash-free 3D models and 2D drawings using Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD.

Ideal candidates will have strong BIM experience, knowledge of codes/standards, and the ability to estimate hours for design tasks.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of BIM design experience.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in electrical systems design and the construction industry.
• Growing understanding of how codes and standards shape design decisions.
• Growing understanding of design and construction specifications and their function.
• Basic understanding of wiring/cabling connections in relation to a circuit or a link between devices and equipment.
• Experience following client design and modeling standards.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar markup software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to estimate hours required for design and modeling efforts based on provided mark-ups and/or verbal direction requests.
• Willingness to learn new things.

Responsibilities

• Design documentation setup and management of Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline BIM leads and team members.
• Create and manage content towards fully coordinated 3D models across disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L) as well as 2D construction drawings.
• Work under the direction of electrical discipline or project leads to turn design intent into constructable deliverables.
• Coordinate with designers, discipline leads, architects and engineers on Jacobs design projects.
• Ensure models comply with Jacobs and client BIM standards and clash-free 3D representations.
