Job summary

AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager, Data Centers to lead multidiscipline design teams for colocations and hyper-scale data centers across the US, with remote work options and occasional travel.

The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, strong written and verbal communication, and a track record in managing complex data center projects from due diligence to construction administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, plus ten (10) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Architecture License (preferred).
• 12 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management (preferred).
• Lean Six Sigma Certification and Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional (preferred).
• Active or recent leadership in data center and mission-critical trade organizations (preferred).
• 12 years in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management & engineering (preferred).
• Excellent communication (written/oral) and team leadership skills (preferred).
• Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations and with minimal oversight (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead data center due diligence and design teams to deliver projects that meet the client’s requirements, on schedule and to a high degree of quality.
• Develop and enforce multi-site project and program management plans.
• Host and attend meetings with clients and external stakeholders.
• Proactively manage and communicate change throughout the project both within AECOM and to our clients.
• Identify problems early and develop creative solutions.
• Proactively communicate with all stakeholders to provide project updates and resolve outstanding issues.
• Develop technical and financial proposals for new and add/move/change data center design projects
• Develop trusting relationships with client stakeholders/buyers.
