Job summary

STACK Infrastructure in Elk Grove Village, IL seeks a Critical Operations Manager to lead and optimize data center operations, safety programs, and maintenance. You will mentor staff, manage vendors, and ensure uptime across electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems.

You will implement efficiency initiatives, develop training plans, and coordinate budgets while serving as a liaison for customers and internal teams. On-call support and flexible hours are expected as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-7 years in a data center or mission-critical operations role.
• 3-5 years in administering and managing facility preventive maintenance.
• 3-5 years in vendor and project management.
• Knowledge of data center industries.
• Experience with MS Office and database software.
• Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments (UPS, Transformers, PDU, RPP, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, Pre-action).
• NFPA70e/72/25 and building code knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in stressful situations.
• Must lift up to 25 pounds.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement a safety culture across STACK data centers.
• Serve as datacenter SME for electrical, mechanical, fire life safety systems.
• Advise on maintenance programs and status at site level.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions.
• Implement site-level efficiency projects and maintain site PUE.
• Ensure maintenance programs are executed and documented.
• Train and mentor junior staff.
• Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
• Develop and manage site budgeting and forecasting.
• Create detailed technical procedures for maintenance and emergencies.
• Coordinate construction and commissioning without impacting operations.
• Develop training plans for each employee.
• Act as customer liaison for site inquiries.
• Lead incident reporting and root cause analyses.
• Audit site processes and ensure compliance.
• Manage systems to avoid outages and optimize cooling.
• Navigate CMS/EPMS/BMS systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service and on-call support.
• Duties may change over time.
