Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the global data center controls team. You will troubleshoot, manage projects, and maintain the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS) across AWS data centers.

You will develop new processes and standards, lead vendor coordination, and support commissioning and on-site visits to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Experience with Industrial Controls Systems hardware and software.
• 5+ years of controls experience in critical environments (data centers, etc.).
• 4+ years of project or vendor management in construction/project execution.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (MQTT, BACnet, MODBUS).

Responsibilities

• Review quarterly maintenance results and drive resolution for BMS/EPMS.
• Develop project scope, schedule, budget, and LOE for customer requests.
• Manage scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS/EPMS projects.
• Support procurement: RFQs/RFPs, RFI responses, vendor reviews, and purchase orders.
• Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule for data centers.
• Attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders, report status to Controls management.
• Support commissioning activities in data centers.
• Review and iterate on the controls SOO; provide design-team feedback.
• Develop and modify controls logic programming and GUIs.
• Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate situations.
• Financially manage BMS/EPMS service contracts.
• Visit local in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor compliance.
