Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Douglasville, GA is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager to oversee construction projects from scope to closeout.

You will interface with general contractors, manage budgets and schedules, and drive initiatives to improve data center resiliency, power management, and reliability. Ideal candidates have deep experience in data center design/engineering operations, large-scale MEP projects, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Experience related to the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure.
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure.
• Experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants.
• Experience defining data center system-level architecture, documenting performance and equipment requirements, creating and communicating conceptual designs, and creating and maintaining project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases.
• Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy.
• Create construction project scope and request for proposals.
• Financial analysis of construction.
• Project management for initiatives to increase data center resiliency.
• Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for data centers.
• Construction document management including submittal review, RFI’s, change orders, and invoicing.
• Quality control of construction work.
• Record and report key construction metrics to team members and management.
• Lead teams for troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis of equipment.
• Read and interpret construction specifications and drawings across disciplines.
• Define data center system-level architecture and communicate requirements.
