Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager in Sterling, VA. You will lead construction projects for new data centers, owning scope, quality, schedule, and budget while coordinating with Operations, Networking, Controls and Security teams.

You will drive cost management, schedule adherence, and vendor management on complex electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical environments, reporting metrics to leadership and ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• MS Excel, Word, and Windows OS proficiency.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• 9 years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
• 6+ years constructing and managing complex MEP systems, incl. power distribution and cooling.
• 4+ years managing general contractors and vendors, incl. RFPs, bidding, change orders, and RFIs.
• 6 years constructing electrical and mechanical systems in data center environments.

Responsibilities

• Interface with general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout phases.
• Negotiate bids/proposals with contractors and evaluate them with detail.
• Create construction project scope and RFPs.
• Perform financial analysis of construction projects.
• Manage projects to increase data center resiliency.
• Review constructability of electrical and mechanical designs.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing.
• Record and report construction metrics to team and management.
• Lead teams and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
