Job summary

Anthropic seeks a Community Engagement Manager to lead relationships with local governments, officials, and community groups in Indiana and Kentucky. You will shape strategy across site development, construction, and operations, surfacing concerns and translating technical plans into local benefits.

This role requires frequent travel and close collaboration with Policy, Infrastructure, and Communications teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or state government, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience engaging with county/municipal governments and diverse community stakeholders on large infrastructure/energy/tech projects.
• Strong relationship-building and coalition-building with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to represent a company credibly in public settings (town halls/hearings/interviews).
• Excellent written and verbal communication translating complex plans into plain language.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with county commissioners, councils, and economic development partners in Indiana and Kentucky.
• Develop and execute market-specific community engagement strategies from site selection to operations.
• Create coalitions, host listening sessions, and design local solutions delivering real community benefits.
• Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, hearings, and media.
• Monitor sentiment and advise teams on risks, opportunities, and engagement pacing.
• Coordinate with Real Estate/Infrastructure to input community perspectives into planning and delivery.
• Collaborate with Communications to craft locally relevant messaging.
• Manage nonprofit partnerships, community investment, and charitable giving in target markets.
• Explain environmental stewardship and energy/water/land-use considerations to locals.
• Build scalable community engagement playbooks for future markets.
