Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager in Virginia and West Virginia to join our Public Policy team and serve as Anthropic's on-the-ground presence in the communities where our data centers are sited, built, and operated.

You will be the connective tissue between Policy and Infrastructure teams and local officials, community organizations, and residents to surface concerns, translate plans into local benefits, and build coalitions for rapid, responsible progress.

Qualifications

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience working with local governments and broad community stakeholders on large infrastructure, energy, or technology projects.
• A skilled relationship and coalition builder who earns trust with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Ability to represent a company credibly in public settings, including town halls and hearings.
• Strong written and verbal communication, translating complex plans into plain language.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements across markets.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with boards, councils, and officials in VA and WV.
• Develop and execute a community engagement strategy for each market.
• Build coalitions, host sessions, and design local solutions with real community benefits.
• Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, hearings, and events.
• Monitor sentiment and advise on risks, opportunities, and engagement pace.
• Collaborate with Real Estate, Infrastructure, Communications to align projects and messaging.
• Coordinate charitable giving and economic development commitments in markets.
• Explain environmental stewardship and address power, water, noise, and land-use questions.
• Create a scalable community engagement playbook for future markets.
