Job summary

Anthropic in Texas seeks a Community Engagement Manager to be the on-the-ground presence for data center projects. You will build trusted relationships with local officials, economic developers, community groups, and residents from site selection through long-term operations.

This role partners with Policy, Infrastructure, Energy and Sustainability teams to translate plans into local benefits, surface concerns early, and write scalable playbooks for expansion.

Qualifications

• Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience engaging with local governments and diverse stakeholders on large infrastructure projects.
• Skilled relationship and coalition builder who earns trust across diverse groups.
• Ability to represent a company credibly in public settings such as town halls and hearings.
• Strong written and verbal communication to translate plans into plain language.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple engagements across markets.
• Based in Texas or willing to relocate, with ability to travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with local officials, government agencies, economic development organizations, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners.
• Develop and execute a community engagement strategy for each market from site selection to ongoing operations.
• Build external coalitions, host listening sessions, and design local solutions that benefit communities.
• Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media.
• Monitor community sentiment and advise internal teams on risks and engagement pace.
• Partner with Real Estate and Infrastructure to integrate community input into project planning and delivery.
• Work with Communications to develop proactive, locally relevant messaging.
• Coordinate charitable giving and nonprofit partnerships in markets.
• Explain environmental stewardship and respond to questions about power, water, and land use.
• Build a scalable community engagement playbook for future markets.
