Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Manager I to lead project commissioning and contract administration, driving successful turnover of complex systems. You will plan and perform independent evaluations of commissioning techniques, procedures, and criteria, coordinating with project teams and contractors.

The role emphasizes hands-on field leadership, development of commissioning plans, and ensuring QA/QC alignment across mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and life safety disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or 10 years of equivalent field experience.
• Minimum six years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP Contractor or Commissioning firm.
• Knowledge of project management and field execution relationships; QA/QC familiarity.
• Strong communication and client-relations skills; ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines.
• Understanding of design codes and commissioning processes (L0-L5) and turnover requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform scope of work technical reviews and provide detailed comments and recommendations.
• Develop commissioning specifications and create commissioning plans, checklists, and tests for collection and control systems.
• Lead field visits, observe commissioning inspections and tests, and provide technical guidance.
• Direct functional performance tests in the field and draft commissioning plan and schedule.
• Draft technical documents for issue resolutions, lessons learned, and best practices; write reports.
