Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Virginia is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee mechanical and electrical systems across data centers. You will lead maintenance, safety, and operations while driving cost efficiencies.

The role requires coordinating with engineering teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain uptime above 99.999% and to deliver small-to-medium projects end-to-end.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of data center engineering experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of administrative experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience leading technical teams or managing projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
• Act as escalation point for facilities-related issues within the data center, escalating to the Data Center Facility Manager as needed.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
