Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Sparks, NV seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead the electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems in a large data center.

You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with on-site technicians and vendors. You will serve as the primary technical resource, develop standard practices, and mentor staff while ensuring safety and reliability of critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
• Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, etc).
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor teams.
• May assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside normal business hours for routine maintenance and after-hours emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance.
• Utilize Excel, Word, and Outlook for day-to-day tasks.
