Job summary

JLL is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the data center engineering team, ensuring safe, efficient operation of HVAC, electrical, and life-safety systems. You will coordinate with facilities management, manage budgets, and drive energy conservation while maintaining tenant satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Five to seven years of engineering experience in a similar setting.
• Three to five years supervisory experience or as Lead Engineer.
• Thorough knowledge of data center HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life safety/fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with data center codes and standards.
• Ability to interact professionally with tenants and contractors.
• Moderate knowledge of trades such as carpentry and electromechanical repair.

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer the engineering team to safely operate data center machinery and systems.
• Ensure timely payroll time records and overtime costs within budget.
• Inspect data centers monthly and prepare work orders for repairs.
• Develop and implement fire safety and environmental hazard measures.
• Coordinate with Facility/Operations Manager on tenant construction and improvements.
• Manage energy usage and train team on energy management practices.
• Oversee procurement with bids for projects exceeding client guidelines.
• Record test procedures, results, and recommend operational changes.
