Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) is seeking a student intern to support the Fiber Operations and Fiber Construction Department with documentation, form development, and process improvement. Responsibilities include engineering support, data analysis, and records research while gaining practical experience in a mission-driven utility organization.

• Must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or a graduate-level degree.
• GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.
• Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Valid drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Fiber Operations and Fiber Construction Department with general documentation, form development, and process improvement.
• Provide general engineering and construction support functions.
• Handle network equipment software resetting and Microsoft Office tasks.
• Conduct utility records research, data validation, data analysis, and problem resolution.

Work Hours: 15-29 hours/week: M - F, 7AM-5PM

About the Role: Assists the KUB Fiber Operations and Fiber Construction Department with general documentation, form development, process improvement, and general engineering and construction support functions. Activities may include network equipment software resetting, Microsoft suite applications, and analytical data processing. Assists with utility records research, data validation, data analysis, and problem resolution.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements: Sedentary work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Physical demands for a specific position within this classification may vary and / or exceed those demands described above.
Minimum Requirements

• Must be and maintain full-time student status of an accredited college or university pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or a graduate-level degree
• Have and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
• Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Good oral and written communication
• Excellent attention to detail
• Must possess basic computer skills
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Geographic Information Systems, or related degree
• Experience with programs such as MS Office, ESRI products, AutoCAD, Visio, or PowerBI
