Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) is seeking a New Service Representative to act as the main point of contact for developers and builders, coordinating utility solutions from design to delivery. You will liaise with external agencies and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong customer service, organization, and communication skills, plus the ability to manage multiple projects and stay current with KUB policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fundamental understanding of electric, gas, water, and/or wastewater systems.
  • Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for commercial and residential land developers and builders.
  • Prepare/review designs, economic analysis, cost estimates, and service agreements.
  • Coordinate with developers, contractors, engineers, inspectors, internal KUB teams, and external agencies to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Manage multiple land development and utility installation projects simultaneously.
  • Advise customers on land development and/or utility service policies, utility fees, easements, agreements, and other KUB programs.
  • Stay up to date on all KUB regulations, utility extension policies, customer-service policies, safety standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in occasional after-hours storm restoration efforts.

In this dynamic, customer-facing role, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for commercial and residential land developers and builders and act as a liaison between external customers or agencies and KUB personnel. You'll communicate with customers daily to understand their needs, advise on utility solutions, and coordinate multiple projects from start to finish. Qualifications
Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to operate and to get in and out of a vehicle many times a day. Requires the ability to move freely throughout the office to review maps, drawings, and design layouts while meeting with internal and external customers. Requires the ability to move freely about customers' properties over all types of terrain. Requires the ability to work under pressure and tight time constraints while addressing numerous customer issues related to providing new utility service. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Fundamental understanding of electric, gas, water, and/or wastewater systems

Strong written and oral communication and customer service skills

Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks

Computer skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

Valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements:

Three (3) years of experience in the operations of utility systems or related field

Experience in the fields of utility design, utility installation, and/or construction

Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects

Associates or bachelor's degree in related field

Experience with PeopleSoft applications, particularly Customer Information System (CIS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
