Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) is seeking a Supply Chain Student in Knoxville to support inventory and warehouse operations, ensuring materials are tracked, maintained, and available as needed.

You will perform data entry, cycle counts, and basic reporting, coordinate with suppliers, and assist with process improvements in a hands-on learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• GPA of 2.5 or higher required.
• Available to work minimum 15 hours per week, Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
• Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with data.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support daily inventory and warehouse operations including receiving, tracking, organizing, and distributing materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through data entry, reconciliation, cycle counts, and basic reporting.
• Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages or discrepancies, and maintain safe storage areas.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams on deliveries and inventory needs; support process improvements.

About the Role: Join KUB’s Storeroom Department as a Supply Chain Student, supporting efficient inventory and warehouse operations that help ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are accurately tracked, properly maintained, and available when needed. This role provides valuable hands‑on experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, purchasing, supplier coordination, logistics, and operational support. In this role, you will:

Support daily inventory and warehouse operations, including receiving, tracking, organizing, and distributing materials and supplies.

Maintain accurate inventory records through data entry, reconciliation, cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and basic reporting.

Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, discrepancies, damaged materials, and other issues while maintaining safe, organized, and accessible storage areas.

Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams on deliveries and inventory needs, while supporting process improvements, special projects, and administrative tasks.

Additional projects, tasks, and duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily sedentary and performed in both a typical office environment, as well as a warehouse environment as needed. Duties involve sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing. The role may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items up to 20 pounds. Bending, stooping, or reaching may occasionally be required. Physical demands may vary by position and may occasionally exceed those described above.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be and maintain full-time student status of an accredited college or university pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or a graduate-level degree
• Have and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
• Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Good oral and written communication
• Excellent attention to detail
• Must possess basic computer skills
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Requirements:

• Pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate-level degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, or other related field
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, and/or Power BI

• Strong customer service skills
