Job summary

Jacobs seeks a Mid-Level Dam and Hydropower Engineer to join our Northwest team, delivering dam, hydropower, fish passage, and hydraulic steel structure projects across the Pacific Northwest and California, with opportunities nationwide and internationally.

In this role you will lead multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with clients, and engage stakeholders to balance technical excellence with environmental stewardship and community priorities.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with USACE, USBR, FERC and industry guidance related to dams, hydropower facilities and hydraulic steel structures.
• Experience performing structural steel design and stress analysis for hydraulic steel structures (gates, stop logs, bulkheads, embedded steel components, lifting systems, and operating equipment).
• Demonstrated track record performing technical work and/or design management for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Proficient experience in dam, hydropower, and fisheries related engineering as a project manager or discipline lead.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong, well rounded technical design skills across contributing disciplines.
• Recognized by clients as a trusted partner with hydraulics and reservoir facility design knowledge.
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Mechanical or Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams through complex, high visibility projects and strengthen relationships with key regional clients.
• Engage with communities, resource agencies, tribal nations, and local organizations to balance technical excellence with environmental stewardship and community priorities.
• Support business development efforts and potentially serve as Project Engineer, Design Manager, or Client Sales Lead across various programs.
• Design, evaluate, and rehabilitate radial gates, vertical lift and slide gates, stop logs, bulkheads, and associated operating machinery; assess structural steel design and load paths.
