Job summary

Kroger in Henrico, VA is seeking a department leader to deliver outstanding customer service while achieving sales and profit goals in the dairy and frozen foods departments. You will hire, discipline, and coach associates and partner with store management to plan and execute promotions and budgets.

The role requires 18+ years, ability to handle stress, basic math, a high school diploma, and retail grocery experience. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to handle stressful situations during daily operations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Retail/Grocery experience preferred.
• Second language skills (speaking, reading, and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Hire, discipline, and termination decisions or input on them.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Set department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop scheduling to manage customer volume during hours of operation.
• Adhere to laws, guidelines, and food safety regulations.
• Create an inviting environment and answer questions about products.
• Inform customers of specials and offer samples to promote items.
• Develop and implement department business plans to achieve results.
• Plan and execute weekly and period sales promotions with store management.
• Prepare seasonal critiques and assist in budgets, expense control and P&L discussions.
• Schedule price changes and update shelf tags and promotional signs.
• Plan inventory processes and train associates on stocking and CIS/ordering.
• Maintain proper temperatures and logs, enforce safety procedures.
• Report safety risks, theft, or fraud.
• Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews.
• Promote trust, respect, and a positive attitude among associates.
