Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies seeks a customer-focused associate to create an outstanding shopping experience in our dairy department. You will help customers, maintain a safe, clean environment, and support goals set by the department manager.

Strong communication and basic math skills are essential, with a preferred second language to assist diverse customers. Responsibilities include product knowledge, stock and labeling, temperature control, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is required or preferred.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) is a plus.
• Ability to handle stressful situations is important.
• Effective communication skills are essential.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction) is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products within the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of dairy specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered.
• Recommend dairy items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and log temperature records.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report any illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.
• Handle conflicts in a calm, cooperative manner.
• Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
