Job Summary
Dairy Clerks are responsible for ensuring the dairy section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. They assist in receiving, storing, and stocking products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality.
S/he must be familiar with store products and their locations to assist customers in locating items. As a PFM team member, they exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, Customer Service, and Value.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Ensure cleanliness of dairy frozen cases, storage areas, and work areas for safety; includes cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, and removing debris.
- Stock dairy cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and organization of all product items as per department schematics, and ensure tags and pricing are accurate.
- Examine the rotation of dairy products, paying attention to expired stock, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
- Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling.
- Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
- Monitor point-of-purchase signs and ensure availability of recipe cards, coupons, promotional materials, and product information.
- Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Use scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
- Participate in pre-inventory preparations, including back stock and verifying tags match products.
- Maintain high product knowledge and proper product preparation.
- Walk the department regularly to ensure organization, sanitation, and cleanliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of retail or grocery experience.
- Valid and up-to-date Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Knowledge of department functions.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, push/pull up to 100 lbs., lift/move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in coolers and freezers with temperature changes.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Reliable transportation.
