Job Summary

Dairy Clerks are responsible for ensuring the dairy section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. They assist in receiving, storing, and stocking products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality.

They must be familiar with store products and their locations to assist customers in locating items. As a team member, they are expected to exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Ensure cleanliness of dairy and frozen cases, storage, and work areas for safety, including cleaning shelves, removing spills, and debris.
2. Stock dairy cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and organization according to department schematics, ensuring accurate tags and pricing.
3. Examine the rotation of dairy products, paying attention to expired stock and discarding spoiled items.
4. Respond positively to customer inquiries, assist with purchases, and promote products through selling and cross-selling.
5. Receive, inspect, and log shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality.
6. Monitor point-of-purchase signs and ensure availability of recipe cards, coupons, promotional materials, and product information.
7. Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
8. Use scales to weigh and label products accurately.
9. Participate in pre-inventory preparation, including back stock management and tag matching.
10. Maintain high product knowledge and proper product preparation.
11. Conduct regular walks through the department to ensure cleanliness and organization.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Valid and current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Knowledge of department functions.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
• Work in coolers and freezers with frequent temperature changes.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required.
• Reliable transportation needed.
