Job Summary:

Dairy Clerks are responsible for ensuring the dairy section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. S/he assists in receiving, storing, and stocking products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality.

S/he must be familiar with store products and their locations to assist customers in locating items. As a Pete's Fresh Market team member, you are expected to exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Ensure cleanliness of dairy and frozen cases, storage areas, and workspaces, including cleaning shelves, removing hazards, and maintaining floors.
2. Stock dairy cases, present products attractively, face and organize items, and ensure pricing accuracy.
3. Inspect dairy products for freshness, monitor expiration dates, and discard spoiled items.
4. Assist customers with inquiries, product selection, and cross-selling.
5. Receive, inspect, and log shipments for accuracy, temperature, and quality.
6. Monitor point-of-purchase signage, promotional materials, and recipe cards.
7. Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, and pallet jacks.
8. Weigh and label products accurately using scales and weight measures.
9. Participate in inventory preparation, including back stock and tagging.
10. Maintain a high level of product knowledge and presentation.
11. Conduct regular department walks to ensure cleanliness and organization.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of retail or grocery experience.
• Valid and current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Knowledge of department functions and excellent customer service skills.
• Effective communication, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in teams.

Physical and Work Environment:

• Ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Work in coolers and freezers with temperature changes.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with reliable transportation.
