Job Summary: Dairy Clerks are responsible for ensuring the dairy section of the store is well-stocked for our customers. They assist in receiving, storing, and stocking products while guaranteeing proper product rotation and quality. They must be familiar with store products and their locations to assist customers effectively. As a PFM team member, they exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value: Aesthetic, Quality, Customer Service.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness of dairy frozen cases, storage areas, and workspaces for safety, including cleaning shelves, removing spills, and debris.
- Stock dairy cases, including presentation, facing, filling, and organization of products according to department schematics, ensuring tags and pricing are accurate.
- Examine the rotation of dairy products, paying attention to expiry dates, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
- Respond to customer inquiries, assist with purchases, provide information, and promote products through selling and cross-selling.
- Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality.
- Monitor point-of-purchase signs and ensure availability of recipe cards, coupons, promotional material, and product information.
- Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Use scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
- Participate in pre-inventory preparations, including back stock management and tag matching.
- Maintain high product knowledge and proper product preparation.
- Conduct regular department walks to ensure organization, sanitation, and cleanliness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of retail or grocery experience.
- Valid and current Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Knowledge of department functions.
Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional customer service skills.

- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work in coolers and freezers with temperature changes.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with reliable transportation.
