Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Monitoring Engineer to support the DMDC CyberPRIMES program at the Monterey Bay, Seaside, CA location. The role focuses on enterprise cybersecurity monitoring, tool health, and reporting to improve DHRA posture.

The position requires a Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, and collaboration with government and external teams to identify gaps, resolve issues, and develop metrics and improve coverage across DHRA systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience supporting cybersecurity monitoring, security engineering, or enterprise security-tool environments.
• Experience evaluating the configuration, connectivity, availability, coverage, or operational status of cybersecurity tools.
• Experience identifying technical issues and coordinating across organizations to troubleshoot problems.
• Experience reviewing cybersecurity findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements, NIST guidance, or federal standards.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical procedures, monitoring documentation, metrics, and status reporting.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to Government, engineering, cybersecurity, and IT operations teams.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor DHRA cybersecurity posture using mandated tools and capabilities.
• Support Tier 3 and shared Tier 2 monitoring and troubleshooting with CSSPs.
• Validate tool configuration, operability, connectivity, data rollups, and compliance.
• Assess deployment and operation of cybersecurity capabilities across DHRA systems.
• Compare tool coverage against asset inventories to identify gaps or misreporting.
• Identify and report tool failures, outages, connectivity issues, and data quality problems.
• Open, document, track, and coordinate technical tickets through resolution.
• Support corrective action planning and get-well actions for deficiencies.
• Validate corrective actions and closure of deficiencies.
• Develop measurable monitoring metrics for leadership visibility.
• Analyze monitoring results to identify trends and systemic issues.
• Recommend tool enhancements, configuration changes, or process improvements.
• Document approved baseline changes and maintain TTPs.
• Support security scanning, mitigation, and compliance checks.
• Review technical work products for accuracy and compliance.
