Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line seeks an accomplished Cybersecurity Architect to design, implement, and govern a comprehensive security program across the enterprise. You will lead strategy, guard critical IT environments, and oversee tools, risk assessments, and incident response to protect business operations.

The role requires deep expertise in security architectures, frameworks, cloud security, and governance, with leadership experience guiding teams and collaborating with executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years in cybersecurity with at least 5 years in leadership or as an architect.
• Advanced knowledge of security frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS).
• Strong experience designing security architectures for enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SIEM, DLP, endpoint protection, encryption).
• Hands-on cloud security expertise (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with vulnerability management tools and penetration testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and DevSecOps practices.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
• Knowledge of automation/orchestration tools (SOAR, Ansible, Terraform).
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VPNs, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS).

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive cybersecurity architecture strategy.
• Design secure IT environments including network security, cloud, IAM, and data protection, with regulatory alignment.
• Architect and implement security controls for on‑prem and cloud infrastructure with defense-in-depth.
• Conduct risk assessments for current and emerging technologies.
• Develop and maintain a cybersecurity governance framework with policies and standards.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on strategy, risk appetite, and IR framework.
• Oversee integration of security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability mgmt.).
• Ensure compliance with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS and other industry guidelines.
• Lead vulnerability assessments and penetration testing with internal and third‑party teams.
• Establish and maintain incident response plans and runbooks for quick containment and remediation.
• Mentor cybersecurity engineers and analysts; promote secure development practices.
• Manage third-party risk and due diligence of vendors and services.
