Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Cyber Mission Engineer to turn complex operational needs into integrated cyber capabilities for national-security missions. You will combine mission understanding, systems engineering rigor, and technical breadth to translate objectives into requirements and guide capabilities from concept through development, integration, test, and transition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent professional experience in a relevant technical field.
  • Eight years of relevant experience in cyber capability development, mission or systems engineering, cyber operations, or related national-security field.
  • Led or played a central technical-integration role through multiple lifecycle stages translating mission needs into requirements and plans.
  • Demonstrated technical depth in software, hardware, networking, RF, embedded systems, cybersecurity, modeling, or testing.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and coordinating partner organizations.
  • Able to obtain Interim Top-Secret security clearance and ultimately TS/SCI+polygraph; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand sponsor missions and translate objectives into requirements and test criteria.
  • Lead development, integration, test, evaluation, and transition of cyber capabilities within larger systems.
  • Lead or work within multidisciplinary teams, define scope and priorities, manage risks, and mentor engineers.
  • Build relationships and present technical status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
