Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Cyber Mission Engineer to translate complex operational needs into integrated cyber capabilities that advance U.S. missions.

You will guide capabilities from concept through development, integration, test, and operational transition, collaborating with developers, operators, engineers, researchers, industry, and academia. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage dependencies and risks, and mentor engineers, while building

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field such as CS, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Eight+ years in cyber capability development, systems engineering, or national-security related roles.
  • Experience translating mission needs into requirements, architectures, interfaces, and test criteria.
  • Technical depth across software, hardware, networking, RF, embedded systems, or cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of sponsor missions and translate objectives into requirements and plans.
  • Lead development, integration, test, evaluation, and transition of cyber capabilities within mission systems.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, manage dependencies and risks, coordinate with partners.
  • Build relationships and present technical, strategic, and decisional briefings to senior stakeholders.
