Job summary

South Carolina DSS is seeking a CWS Case Manager – Investigations to perform case management in the Child Welfare area in accordance with policy and GPS Practice Model. You will conduct timely initial investigations, engage families with empathy, and collaborate with law enforcement when safety concerns arise.

You will identify safety threats, develop safety plans, and document actions in CAPSS. Ongoing training and 20 hours/year of certification are expected, including maintaining PII

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• Bachelor's Degree in any other field and one year experience.
• Master's Degree or higher may be substituted for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial investigations of child abuse and neglect and respond to intakes within identified time frames.
• Engage families and professionals, collaborate with law enforcement and legal when safety concerns are present, and complete necessary legal packets.
• Develop safety plans when appropriate to reduce safety concerns and document recommendations in the Family Permanency Plan.
• Locate and engage absent parents, relatives, and fictive kin to support the child and family team (CFT).
• Maintain case records and ensure CAPSS documentation meets policy standards and timelines.
• Maintain child welfare certification with ongoing training.
• Protect personal data and ensure proper use of PII.
• Perform emergency shelter duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science
