Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager – Investigations for the 2nd shift to perform timely initial investigations of child abuse and neglect and to coordinate safety services for at‑risk children and families.

You will maintain case records, collaborate with law enforcement and legal teams, and participate in Family Permanency Planning while following the GPS Practice Model.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• Bachelor’s degree in any other field plus 1 year related experience acceptable.
• Master’s degree or higher may substitute for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts case management in the Child Welfare Investigations area (2nd shift) per DSS policy and GPS Practice Model.
• Performs initial safety assessments and safety planning using FAST.
• Maintains thorough case documentation in CAPSS and other records, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Engages families and partners with empathy, collaborating with law enforcement and legal when needed.
• Performs on-call duties and participates in CFT meetings to include absent parents and kin.
• Manages referrals, safety planning, and service recommendations to support children at risk.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science
