Job summary

SMEUSA seeks a qualified Inspector to perform bolted and welded structural reviews on buildings, fabrication sites, and related structures across the state. The role includes NDT of welds and components, field witnessing, sampling, and optional lab testing.

Travel nationwide may be involved to support manufacturing and equipment testing. Requirements include AWS CWI certification, QA/NDT experience with UT/MT/PT, a High School diploma, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification is required.
• Quality/QA experience with NDT (UT, MT, PT) levels or training log documenting qualification.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Proficiency with standard computer programs (Word/Excel, PDFs, email).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel throughout the state; occasional out-of-state travel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, professional interaction with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Perform bolted and welded structural connection reviews on buildings and fabrication inspections.
• Conduct NDT of welds, structural members, and components (UT, MT, PT); assist field witnessing and sampling.
• Laboratory testing and welder qualification testing as needed; support other SME groups.
