Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a highly skilled NDT Inspector / Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform welding inspections, non-destructive testing, and quality assurance at customer sites and fabrication facilities. The role requires extensive regional travel and a company vehicle for travel.

You will ensure compliance with codes, standards, customer specs, and quality requirements while representing the company professionally in the field.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification (preferred).
• ASNT Level II VT/MT/PT/UT/RT per ASNT SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410.
• High school diploma or technical degree in Welding, Mechanical Eng Tech, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of welding inspection and NDT experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel 75-90% of the time, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT inspections using VT, MT, PT, UT, and RT (RT preferred).
• Conduct welding inspections per AWS, ASME, API and customer specs.
• Travel to customer sites, fabrication shops, and field locations.
• Safely operate company vehicle during travel to sites.
• Interpret WPS, PQR, and WPQ records.
• Review fabrication drawings, ITPs, and quality docs.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain records.
• Identify weld and dimensional defects; recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, customer requirements, and QMS.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, QA, customers, and third-party inspectors.
• Participate in customer audits and third-party inspections.
