Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced OR nurse to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures at UAB St. Vincent's East.

The role includes scrub and circulating duties, assisting the operating physician, and preparing rooms and equipment. The position requires a nursing diploma, Alabama RN licensure, and BLS/ACLS certifications within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire date.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire date.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from Alabama Board of Nursing before hire date.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions: instrument and supply handling during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor, record, and communicate patient condition; manage overall nursing care before, during, and after procedure.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments/equipment for use.
