Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. You will perform scrub and circulating duties, assist the surgeon with surgical tasks, and prepare operating rooms and equipment for use.

The role requires a nursing diploma with an Alabama RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• BLS/ACLS certification current or obtained within stated timeframes.
• Licensed RN in Alabama prior to hire date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program with active licensure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including instrument and supply handling.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring patient condition and coordinating nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Directly assist the operating physician with surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, and wound exposure; assist with patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
