Job summary

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Inc. is hiring for a brokerage specialist in Chicago to service clients from data intake to final release. You will handle entry processes, ensure compliance, and coordinate ISF filings with suppliers while delivering first-class service.

The role requires 1–3 years in freight forwarding, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office. We offer competitive health programs, a 401(k), tuition support, and incentive pay for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent may satisfy education requirements.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of experience in freight forwarding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service client by performing brokerage functions.
• Troubleshoot to provide exceptional customer service.
• Daily follow up on open issues with client, carrier or CBP to resolve delays.
• Manage entry process from data receipt to delivery, billing and scanning.
• Audit documents for accuracy and CBP/PGA compliance.
• Enter data into the brokerage system to complete entry and release.
• Coordinate ISF filing with origin station or supplier.

This position has a base compensation range of $33.00 to $36.00. In addition to this base compensation, you'll benefit from our competitive health and welfare programs, a 401(k)-retirement savings plan, opportunities for tuition assistance, and incentive compensation for eligible positions. Salary determination considers your skills, experience, job location, internal pay equity and job architecture. Workdays: Sunday - Thursday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all functions required by the brokerage department to service the client
• Performs functions including troubleshooting and problem-solving to provide exceptional customer service
• Performs daily follow up on all open issues with the client, carrier, forwarder, CBP, or PGA to resolve any delays in entry processing
• Manages all aspects of the entry process from receipt of documents or data to delivery, billing and scanning.
• Audits commercial documents for accuracy, and verifies description, value, term of sale, country of origin, classification, and all areas required by CBP and any and all PGA’s
• Enters all required data accurately into Hellmann’s brokerage system to complete the entry and achieve full release with CBP and PGA.
• Coordinates with the origin station, supplier or third party to process the Importer Security Filing (ISF) on behalf the importer.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise any direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement
• High School Diploma or GED
• One to three years of previous experience in freight forwarding industry preferred
• Completion of any industry related course is an asset
