Job summary

LITTLE GENERAL STORE INC is seeking a Customer Service Representative to serve as the primary customer contact. You will handle sales, help customers locate products, stock shelves and keep the store clean and safe.

Must be at least 18 years old to sell tobacco, lottery, and alcohol. Responsibilities include processing payments, upselling, promoting loyalty programs, and adhering to state requirements for regulated products.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to greet customers professionally and manage inquiries.
• Basic math for payments and giving correct change.
• Knowledge of store policies on tobacco, alcohol and lottery sales.

Responsibilities

• Present a well-groomed, professional image at all times.
• Greet and welcome customers with a smile.
• Help customers locate products when needed.
• Upsell related products when appropriate.
• Record sales on the cash register and collect payment; provide correct change.
• Understand and follow all approved payment systems and transaction processes.
• Follow state laws regarding lottery, alcohol and tobacco sales.
• Promote enrollment in Loyalty Programs (e.g., Plenti).
• Observe the store for suspicious activity and report to the Manager on duty.
• Monitor gas pumps to prevent drive-off theft and report incidents.
• Report malfunctioning equipment or systems to the Manager on duty.
• Stock coolers and shelves; ensure products are available and priced.
• Maintain sanitary conditions in food service areas per local health standards.
• Participate in cleaning and maintaining a safe store environment.
• Adhere to Locked Door policy if in effect.
• Understand and execute security and emergency protocols.
• Report customer accidents or injuries to the Manager on duty.
• Adhere to corporate and handbook policies.
• Report any problem to the Manager on Duty.
• Complete Daily Shift Report at end of shift.
• Other duties as assigned.
