Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers, building and productionizing data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong engineering skills, curiosity, and the ability to deliver measurable outcomes with customer empathy. Travel about 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms or software engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps and ML/AI models and APIs.
• Design and deployment of end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI and user interfaces.
• Experience delivering technical projects for enterprise clients, with clear scoping and timelines.
• Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead production solution delivery by building reference architectures, data ingestion and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide transformational big data projects from end-to-end design to deployment with customers and engagement managers.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects to drive understanding, evaluation and adoption of Databricks.
• Own architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with Databricks engineers, project managers, architects and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide product feedback and guide rapid resolution for engagement-specific issues with engineering and support teams.
• Embed with customer teams across technical ICs to executives to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Create accelerators, frameworks and best practices that scale impact across accounts.
