Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Cashier/Checker to greet shoppers, process transactions, and maintain a safe, clean environment in-store. You will operate the POS system, handle multiple tender types, and adhere to company policies on loss prevention and restricted items.

Ideal candidates have strong math and communication skills, prior customer service experience, and a willingness to uphold Kroger's values and safety standards in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, coupons and loyalty offers per policy.
• Follow cash-handling guidelines (shortages/overages) and help prevent loss.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
• Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
