Job summary

Houchens Ace Hardware is seeking a floor associate to engage customers, assess needs, and project product requirements. You will unload trucks, stock, and maintain department cleanliness while supporting store-wide operations.

The role demands strong customer service, teamwork, and flexibility, including evenings and weekends. Training peers, following promotions, and promoting Ace Rewards are part of the responsibilities to ensure a top-notch shopping experience.

Qualifications

• Able to communicate professionally with customers and team members.
• Prompt, friendly and attentive customer service.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Willing to learn all areas of the store and help train others.
• Proven team-player with collaborative mindset.
• Knowledge and experience of various departments is strongly desired.
• Regular and prompt attendance is required.
• Availability must be flexible including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written communication strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help unload trucks and stock merchandise, keep department clean and organized.
• Execute daily store goals with urgency and attention to detail.
• Participate in daily huddles and share improvement ideas with management.
• Remove promotional tags after events and update price tags as needed.
• Restock displays and monitor end caps and side wings.
• Handle special orders and coordinate with floor management.
• Monitor for shoplifting and act per company policy.
• Provide best possible customer experience by being helpful and friendly.
• Greet customers and assist in departments and storewide as needed.
• Participate in store communication and initiatives.
• Assist customers with concerns and involve a manager when needed.
• Use the Five Foot Rule and maintain professional interactions.
• Promote Ace Rewards and related policies to customers.
• Be aware of promotions and advertisements to inform customers.
• Wear radio/headset for effective communication with crew.
• Respond to Customer Coordinator questions as needed.
• Assist with large/heavy items as needed.
• Offer customers a red basket for shopping.
• Assist in training peers and perform other duties as directed.
