Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, customer-focused store and supervise staff under the Store Manager's direction.

You will supervise employees, assist with merchandise presentation, deposits, and cash controls, and help drive profitability while protecting assets. Responsibilities include cashiering, scheduling, training, and ensuring policy compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to perform cash handling and balance cash deposits.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; operate cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow company processes to manage merchandise; receive, stock, rotate and display.
• Maintain accurate inventory; control damages, markdowns and deposits.
• Assist in planograms; ensure merchandise presentation per policy and direction.
• Support store financial integrity; oversee refunds, overrides, and cash counts.
• Assist store management in the Store Manager's absence.
