Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager, you will supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, and help handle deposits and paperwork.

You will assist in scheduling, training, and safety meetings; maintain inventory, implement planograms, and ensure cash controls and refunds are handled properly. This role supports store operations and profitability while protecting assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; operate the cash register and scanner to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking, and displays.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Assist with planograms; ensure merchandise is presented per established practices and direction.
• Maintain store cash controls; authorize refunds and overrides, count tills, deposit money.
• Assist in managing the store in the Store Manager's absence.
