Job description

An international freight forwarder in the Elk Grove Village, IL area is looking for a Customer Coordinator Associate candidate with strong communication skills who will assist logistics operations as well as support customer satisfaction.

Customer Service Coordinator Responsibilities

• Manage air and ocean import/export shipments from booking through delivery.
• Serve as the main point of contact for assigned customers.
• Provide shipment updates and proactively communicate delays or issues.
• Coordinate with overseas offices, freight carriers, agents, and vendors.
• Prepare freight quotes and obtain competitive rates from vendors.
• Support the sales team with proposals and customer requests.
• Handle customer inquiries, troubleshoot shipment issues, and resolve service failures.
• Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and account documentation.
• Prepare customer reports and monitor shipment exceptions.
• Provide backup support to other operational team members as needed.

Customer Service Coordinator Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• At least 3 year (including internship/co-op of similar experience such as in freight forwarding
• At least 3 years of customer service in logistics industry
• Must be able to maintain a high degree of flexibility with assigned duties
• Ability to work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to use Excel including functions such as VLOOKUP is a much and ability to use SAP and ERP or CRM System is a plus
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines
• This position includes manufacturing and warehousing/office work environment.
